Vietnam’s Most Expensive Bridal Gown
Vietnam perhaps is not all about post-communist boredom and post war melancholy. The country is teeming with luxury goods and consumers who lap it all up. Here is a $117,000 wedding gown that simply blows your mind away and it comes from Vietnam. It has designed by Huy Vo and is called “Bach ngoc xiem y”.
It has 22 big rubies and 8 big diamonds and it took almost 40 days to complete this unique gown. The first runner up of Miss Vietnam 2008 will wear this on the 30th of June, that is today. It has also been given the certificate for being the most expensive gown in Vietnam. It would be interesting to see if other designers would like to compete with this gown.
I especially like the way it falls and the way it transforms the wearer’s look and expression. If you have the money you could perhaps ask someone to get a similar gown designed for yourself. It is being showcased at the Ruby Plaza trading centre in Hanoi. I would love to take a look at it firsthand!

A Sculpted Modern and Abstract Workstation
The Edward Cella Art + Architecture gallery have installed a permanent sculpture like structure. It doubles up as a workstation and is designed by Ball-Nogues Studio. With undulating forms and non contour lines, the sculpture seems to suggest a sort of non geometric and non linear pattern of life. Life ever is really predictable or geometric and within it lays great chaos. The sculpture was built using layers of diecut cardboard and Koskisen plywood.
Much of the design was derived computational software. It also suggests movement and vitality. It is quite interesting that modern furniture and workstations are being inspired by art and abstract thought. Though this is a purely artistic masterpiece, we may soon begin to see a lot of workstations and furniture based on artistic thought.
Though the artist has used humble materials, it does not shy away from using new ideas which result in dynamic forms. I would love to see this installed in one of the receptions of a cosy hotel reception or perhaps even in a slightly less formal situation!

VirtualHUD Allows Pilots to Fly Safe
One of the dangers of flying is that you may not be able to see what is flying overhead or worse, what it is like just above you. Mr. Steele has designed the VirtualHUD which projects images from the plane’s propeller directly to you without obstructing anything. It is a simple and sophisticated bolt-on system which would be great for all prop planes.
It takes readouts from avionics package, GPS system, and thus provides the pilot with overlaying information, graphics, warning and waypoints. The HUD is readable and provides you with good images even when there is smoke, haze and other factors which reduce the visibility. The technology is of course simple but no one perhaps had thought of it earlier.
Mr. Steele is willing to provide the knowledge and technology to anyone who is willing and is eve in the process of getting the technology patented. If the technology can be used in an economical manner, and thus would allow greater safety and control for the pilot. If you have a prop plane, you might want to use it as well.

Lexus IS Convertible, Finally!
If you are kind of guy who would die for convertibles, Lexus is not the company you would look for, ever. However, Lexus has finally decided to pull it off and get a convertible rolling. The model has been rightly christened as IS and Lexus IS Convertible. The car comes at a price of $38,500 and is powered by a 3.5 or 2.5 litre V6.
Of course you would get a number of features like iPod connectivity, an eight-speaker sound system, Bi-Xenon headlamps, LED taillights, and dual-zone climate control. The car looks superiorly stylish and one could go to lengths try8ing to describe it. All it would have needed was a better engine, and V8 would have been the best choice.

Amphibian: Amazing Slip-ons Help Lifeguards
If you have been a constant watcher of Baywatch, you would know how important timely action really is. Unfortunately, things aren’t so easy for lifeguards and reality is tougher than the glossy images you would see on the TV Show.
Edward Shelton has designed the Amphibian, which is a two part system aimed at helping lifeguards better approach the task of saving human lives at the beach. The design employs the idea of comfortable walking shoes and slip on retractable swim fins. It is aimed at making the lifeguard’s task of walking on the beach and getting into the water and swimming easy.
Moreover, it saves the lifeguard’s precious time as the fins do not need to be located and attached before plunging into the water. However, the amphibian loses out on the fact that the lifeguard still has to take the trouble of attaching the fins before getting into action. Nevertheless, it is a great concept but could have been slightly more useable.

The name Disney will now be known for things other than the vivacious colors and the loud celebrations, thanks to the inception of the Disney Vacation Club. As part of the new endeavour, the famous brand is now offering the Treehouse Villas at its Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa. We hear that it is the perfect holidaying place with a kiss of luxury as it revives the treehouse living concept.
Each and every treehouse villa has been constructed so to look like a giant 3-D puzzle. The new resort includes 60 three-bedroom homes that go as high as 10 feet off the ground with the help of pedestals and beams. But that’s just on the outside as the interior flaunts all modern aminities like the cathedral ceilings, granite countertops, a barbecue grill complete with the flat TV to keep you entertained. Each villa is large enough to accommodate nine people.
Also, the guests will be able to enjoy the benfits of the special pool area as well as the boat transportation between the Downtown Disney area and the Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa dock. By the way, there are plenty of tennis courts too along with the bicycle rental shops.

Sony Ups The Standard With The VAIO Signature Collection

But from what we hear, the new off shoot of the same that goes by the name of Signature Collection might just leave the first laptop range eating dust for it features some brilliantly crafted laptop models. There is a whole series that include the likes of CS, SR, P, Z and TT. So, if you have your eyes set on the Z798Y/X notebook weighing 3.3 pounds, you just need to set aside $4,350. This one comes wrapped in a premium fiber case to make it extra durable. Part of a limited edition, only 120 units are up for sale. The other options goes by the name of Z790DND notebook with a starting price of $2,750, of which only 300 units are available.
The Signature VAIO collection also features a model in pink faux crocodile leather and it is called CS390 notebook. This one comes cheap at $400 with some 400 units just out of production. You get some other color options too like crocodile red, crocodile brown and deep violet. Other notebooks in the Signature collection are P699 Glossy Black, TT290 Electric Blue, SR490 Champagne Gold and Z790 Bordeaux Red.
