London Routemaster Double-Decker Bus Gets The Bentely Touch

Bentley-London-Routemaster-double-decker-1 London Routemaster Double-Decker Bus Gets The Bentely Touch

The best part about the holiday season is the generous nature that partakes one and all. Even brand Bentley (no we do not mean to imply that it doesn’t wear the nobel cap on other occasions). Well, the luxury car maker has packed in a real treat for the world this December by renovating the London Routemaster double-decker bus to the hospice St. Luke’s at it crew headquarters.

We are told that the hospice acquired the bus in April and then requested Bentley to do the needful, to which the car maker readily agreed. And mind we tell you that this project was not an easy one to undertake. In fact, it required the efforts of some 59 workers who worked for 2,000 hours night and day to complete this venture.
Bentley has made use of hand stitched leather to do the interior of the London Routemaster double-decker bus. Several work surfaces, rails, kitchen unit and shelves have been custom made for the automobile. The bus in question will be seen as a traveling shop at various schools and colleges.

Mimi Tan & Her Sushilicious Furniture, Let’s Not Forget The Dolls Too

mimi tan

Atlanta based designer Mimi Tin sure loves her sushi and that too just the way she likes it. And now, she is all set to make the world fall in love with her version of it too. Well, the idea of the Sushi Style line of furniture items first came to her mind when she was still in grad school. Apparently, one of her assignments required her to create a piece of furniture that belonged to a specific design period. And she chose Japan.

Mimi’s original furniture idea was that of the Carrot Ottoman which later evolved into a sushi roll that is made up of six individual wedges of cushion. All of these sit on top of a wooden base and are held together with a seaweed wrap (that the Japanese love to eat so much for its health benefits) to seal the sushi look.
But this is not where Mimi’s talents take leave. In fact, she has also offered to create mini sushi furniture as accessories for the two dolls belonging to her Sushiami plush doll collection. Wow, so much talk of sushi just got me in the mood of popping one in my mouth!

Manga Ormalu Will Bring A Dash Of Color With Manga Pop Culture To Your Mantel

manga ormalu 1

If only the world could get enough of ‘manga’ but perhaps the endless stacks of Naruto and his peers lying in our bookshelf as well as the hordes of anime from Pokemon to the works on the TV make us hungry for even more. Well, British Columbia-based ceramicist and artist Brendan Lee Satish Tang knows just what we mean. For starters, he has created a very impressive range of colorful mangafied vases for the likes of us.

And we love them. It is a true delight to witness such a wonderful amalgamation of traditional Chinese art with the ‘oh so popular’ manga art intrinsic to the Japanese culture. The idea behind the concept of adapting the ming vessels is really to recall 18th century french gilded ormolu, this was in turn borrowed from Chinese vessel forms to act as curiosity pieces for aristocrats.
The series is referred to as Manga Ormolu. In fact, it is quite clear that Tang who sells these vases under brand Kamloops shares the same ideal as Brian Jungen. After all, didn’t we see similar impressions on the latter’s native art sculptures. The Manga Ormolu is a must have for it symbolizes the rich fusion of tradition with modern pop. These will liven up your home decor.

The Queen’s Stamp Mould Is Up For A Very Rare Auction

Original_Queen_Stamp The Queens Stamp Mould Is Up For A Very Rare Auction

Since times immemorial, stamps have proven to be a great way to honour somebody or their memories. And one such person who has earned herself the prerogative to be immortal always (for various reasons, both positive and not so negative ones too) is none other than the Queen of England. Well, the original Queen stamp was created by sculptor Arnold Machin, and that too way back in 1967.

We also hear that the Queen loved the lines of the stamp so much that she ordered to never have it updated. All this when her effigy on the British coin has been modified time and again. And for this reason, we think Machin should be a very happy man.
The plaster cast has printed over 320 billion stamps for the last 40 years. This mould will be held up for a very rare auction and the bidding might just start next week. The estimated price is at least $16,320. Folks are very excited about the sale. We heard a member of staff at the Staffordshire auction house saying that absolutely nothing  like this has ever been there for sale before. The event indeed is a rather exclusive and rare one.

M. Sturman Aspires To Be Big With The New ‘Sex In The City’ Movie

green-tea-seed-bead-neckpiece M. Sturman Aspires To Be Big With The New Sex In The City Movie

Not many have heard of M. Sturman Jewelry but that little fact will change soon, pretty soon. Apparently, a whole range of its creations has been sent to the sets of the new ‘Sex in the City’ movie. After all, nothing becomes a fashion faster than what Carrie Bradshaw and her gals are seen donning. The fictitious foursome are revered as trendsetters for a reason.

Well, M. Sturman Jewelry is a New York City based brand which makes use of unique pearls, tones, beads and a whole lot of vintage pieces to make this wonderfully stylish jewelry. One can even seen Swarovski cabochons and blow glass used to make these works of art. One of our faves features Swarovski stones that was custome ordered by Christian Dior before World War II.
The designer behind this endeavour is Peggy Sturman and she has an impressive background of art history and floral design. We are hoping that she might soon be the next big thing in the fashion world for she has earned the patronage of the ‘Sex and the City’ girls.

BeaValdes’ CoutureLab Gray Gio Evening Bag, Nothing Can ‘Bead’ It!

gray gio evening bag

Whether summer or winter, sun or rain, one thing is constant – the ‘unusual’ is always ‘in’. One look at the CoutureLab Gray Gio Evening Bag from BeaValdes and you will know just what we are talking about. Kudos to its creator for thinking of a very futuristic pattern that will be a hit with both geeks and the fashionistas alike. This purse is a more slender version than the previous BeaValdes creations seen before. However, the punch packed in this one has the same forceful impact.

You will fall in love with the stunning art deco work on the overlapping circles of cut beads as well as the enormous and sprakling crystal studs. There is a very elegant bead trim that looks great on the grabbable shape.
The lining is in soft satin that feels really good on the asymmetrical fold. A magnetic closure ensures that all is kept safe within. You get a chain too for days you wish to sling it over your shoulder. The $2,534 spent on this fashion accessory will be worth every bead used to make this spectacular creation.

Zaha Hadid’s Silver Tea & Coffee Tower Set From Alessi Is A Work Of Art

alessi-tea-coffee-tower-set1 Zaha Hadids Silver Tea & Coffee Tower Set From Alessi Is A Work Of Art

In many countries, tea time is more than just a mundane everyday activity that one indulges in between lunch and dinner. In fact, it is nothing less than an experience in itself. No wonder the Japanese regard their ‘tea ceremonies’ with so much reverence. You too can make yours an extraordinary one thanks to an extremely novel Silver Tea & Coffee Tower Set. Designed by Zaha Hadid, this one sells under brand name Alessi. And from what it looks like, the talented designer has very successfully translated her passion into this amazing creation.

The tower set is made up of four elements – a teapot, a coffeepot, a milk jug and a sugar bowl. All of these fit in pretty well together to form a sculptural three-dimensional silhouette, which, in turn, sits pretty in a tray that helps the user walk through various configurations. In other words, the form can change depending on whether it is in use or otherwise.
The teapot stays wide and flat keeping its organic shape intact. On the other hand, the coffee pot rises from the landscape just like a tower does. You can get this very artistic tea companion at a price of $33,500. The collection is limited with only 99 units selling through 20ltd. Hurry!
